Of the Michelin stars winners, Ramsay is one of the best known around the world thanks to his participation in the “Kitchen Nightmares” program, which made him one of the most loved and hated faces by the viewers around the world.
In his teenage years he didn’t imagine being a cook, his dream was to be a football player, but an injury in his leg removed him definitely from this world. At the age of 19 he decided to start studying at the North Oxfordshire Polytechnic, where he graduated as a Hotel Administrator.
His first job was as a chef’s assistant at the Roxburghe House Hotel. Rossmore (later renamed Aubergine), was the first restaurant where he had participation as a partner and Chef with Marco Pierre White, where he received his first Michelin star.
The first restaurant that opened with his name was the Gordon Ramsay at Royal Hospital Road, with which he reached the much desired 3 Michelin stars. He started officially in the kitchen at age 16, learning about dishes of Provençal and Mediterranean food. His teacher and spiritual guide has been Alain Chapel, recognized French chef with 3 Michelin stars.
In 1984 he led the kitchen of La Terrasse, restaurant of the Hotel Juana where he obtained 2 stars. But it would be the Hotel de Paris de Monte Carlo that would open the doors to the world and where he would be recognized with 3 Michelin stars for being in front of the kitchen; it was the first time that the restaurant of a hotel obtained this type of recognition.

In 1990 he was cataloged “Cook of the Century” by the guide Gault Millau. The Nikko Hotel was the home to receive the first two Michelin stars of his career.
